Milli Majlis Delegation Visits Salyan Oil Fields and GL Group Affiliate

A delegation of Members of the Milli Majlis, led by Sadig Gurbanov, Chairman of the Committee on Natural Resources, Energy, and Ecology, visited the Kursangi and Garabaghli oil and gas fields in the Salyan district, as well as the field office of Salyan Oil Limited - an affiliated company of GL Group.

During the visit, the parliamentarians toured a drilling site where a 4,000-meter-deep vertical well is currently being drilled, marking the end of a 14-year hiatus in drilling operations at these fields.

The guests were briefed on the ongoing drilling program, which includes plans for a 5,000-meter-deep vertical well and the first onshore horizontal well in Azerbaijan, with a total length of 4,400 meters and a horizontal section of at least 400 meters.

Members of the Milli Majlis also visited Site No. 6 of the Garabaghli field, where they reviewed site improvement works and were introduced to the workover rigs and wireline trucks operated by GL Technical Services - an affiliated company of GL Group.

The delegation then explored the capabilities of the new Monitoring Center located in the administrative building of Salyan Oil Limited, which provides real-time, 24/7 access to all available operational data.

The visit continued with a roundtable meeting, where a comprehensive overview of GL Group’s activities in Azerbaijan and abroad was presented.

Gilbert Beuhler, Senior Vice President of GL Group for Technical Functions and International Operations, shared insights on operational achievements in Azerbaijan and Türkiye, along with the cutting-edge technologies being deployed.

Asif Zeynalov, Group Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Advisory Board of GL Group, emphasized that the initiative of the Milli Majlis members to visit GL Group is highly commendable.

He noted that such initiatives serve as an additional impetus for strengthening cooperation between the parliament and the private sector.
